The D800 is capable of small miracles, but don't expect them unless you own some really high end glass, aka Nikon prime lenses. When you view the massive 36 mp images at full res they will seem unsharp with many zooms and average lenses.

I have 2 primes and a 70-200mm 2.8, although you don't need high end glass for resolving power. The 50mm 1.8 resolves better than the 50mm 1.4.
