Trade a 50mm for a 35mm? Please give your opinion! :)

How about RENT a 35 AND an 85 for the wedding? Be sure to get a couple days practice with each first, though. Once the wedding is over, decide on which one to buy.

Also, there's no indication of what camera you're using. On a crop, I'd definitely go the 35/85 route as the 35 has a FOV of a theoretical 56mm lens. On a full frame, I'd go with the 'try it...you'll like it' route.

Am using a Canon 5D Mark III. I've used an 85mm before and loved it too. I do hope to have it for next year also. I do love my 50mm don't get me wrong just sometimes the field of view can be a bit tight when I want to add other elements into the frame is all hence when I got to try out the 35mm I loved it.

You are not going to fill the whole frame with someone's full face with a 35mm. You use it to cover an event. IMO 35mm is better than 50mm to cover a wedding. 35mm and 85 mm is a good combo for 2 bodies combination. If you will only use one camera, better use 24-70 IMO.

I will have an 85mm for next year. But do you think the 50mm wouldn't be good for covering an event? It would be better to have a 35mm?
