Trip to Tromso, Norway on 27th March.

I just successfully funded a Kickstarter campaign to go and photograph the Northern Lights up in Tromso in the Arctic Circle.

Any advice on aperture/ISO/shutter speed/lenses/filters/location/vantage points

I have no clue on photographing the northern lights from the arctic though...
I would guess you should dress warm though. and have a good weather sealed camera/lens.

When I read the question I was wondering too how someone funded a Kickstarter campaign to do this sort of project and then would need to ask basic questions in being able to accomplish it. Seems like if you ask people for funding you'd need to have a good idea how to carry out the project.

This makes me think Kickstarter might need to revise what gets posted as proposed projects on their site because enough of these that get funded and never see fruition, people might start getting tired of helping to fund projects at all on there.

Wow, that's kind of drawing a quick harsh conclusion. And the really sarcastic ones of the bunch haven't even dropped by with their $0.02 yet.

Try and suss that out when you're there.

location/vantage points

Ask around in Tromsø, if no-one here's been and seen.

As you have a date set, ascertain local sunrise/sunset, and moon phase/position; research the location with Google Earth etc.

I'm going to use it to photograph Oklahoma and it's inhabitants and post the pictures on here, flickr and 500px for my fellow TPFer's to tell me how crappy they are composed and show me how the WB is off. I won't learn anything from this exercise but I will have a mk III.
