Tripod Choices

Looking to upgrade my very cheap tripod and narrowed it down to two potentials, you views and comments are welcome.

Personally, even though I am a big Manfrotto fan, of those two, I would go with the Vanguard due it's having 3 vice 4 section legs, foot spikes and a ball vice tilt/pan head.

I'm gonna agree with this. Go with the Vangard. The less leg sections you have, the less likely you're going to get potential camera shake and the more sturdy it is.

I like the Vanguard too between those two choices for all the aforementioned reasons.
But you may want to go to a camera store and just look at the tripods to get a good idea.

Manfrotto makes some great tripods. It's all up to price and location you buy (don't go to general stores that *also* sell camera stuff).
I nearly got a different Vanguard where the arms rotates down for top down photos.

The other option was saving the for Nikon dx 16-85 which I had the pleasure of hiring - super lens.
