I have a MeFoto Roadtrip (MeFOTO RoadTrip Aluminum Travel Tripod Kit (Black) A1350Q1K B&H), and I like it. Folds up pretty small, extends fairly tall for how small it folds, it's durable, and one leg comes off to use as a monopod. It's also Arca-type, which is nice.

For traveling and taking a tripod on the go, the Manfrotto BeFree series tripod has a lot of bang to it for the buck. Its worth it for the little extra cash

Cheers, I'll give these a look. I've recently picked up a used Nikon AF-S f/4 300mm which doesn't have VR/VC so the tripod will be primarily for that.

This is the tripod I use,Benro TMA28A Series 2 Mach3 Aluminum Tripod TMA28A B&H Photo it has been a great tripod and at a great price, I picked it up on sale at B&H on sale with a ball head for 129.00usd, and then I bought this gimbal of ebay, Neewer Sevenoak 360 Degree Carbon Fiber Panoramic Gimbal Tripod Head | eBay, so far both have worked out very well for me..
