tristar filters?

I just recently purchased canon 50mm 1.4 and 100mm macro and Im interested in some filters. The guy at the local camera store recomended the tristar uv and polarized filters. What do you guys recomend?

Pretty much anything else. Any company that makes a <$20 CPOL isn't worth putting even on the cheapest lens. This is the first thing the light hits on it's way to your camera's sesnor; if it's crap, the resultant image will be crap. Spend a few extra dollars and get a multi-coated Tiffen or Hoya. If you've got a little extra, then look to B+W, Heliopan or Singh-Ray.
