Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I really tried to use what I have been readying and what some of you have told me. Please keep in mind I am only shooting with a 20D, stock 18-55mm lens, no filters, lights or any real editing software. I will be getting stuff soon but wanted to get the hang of with without using "helpers" I guess you could say. I think they look a lot better than when I first started but I know I can do better. C&C away please...........

Thanks for any help.

I like the pictures, personally I wouldn't use a silver car with a light background (white, silver, light grey) only because the car would blend in to the background too much.

That subie has some nice stance!

Busy backgrounds are stealing attention from the cars, in 3 ways:
  1. color
  2. luminosity
  3. scale
The cars have to little image scale in the frame to be the first element to draw the viewers eye, and so cannot be considered the main subjects.

Don't copy all the other poorly made car shots that are found spewed all over car forums and various other places on the Internet. ;)

Make photos that are about the car, not about the background.

In #1, #3, #4, and #6 the car should have been pointing the other way so there was light was on the front and side of the car closest to the camera., unless you had used supplimental lighting of some type.

Considerably better from the first time around!

#1. Too close to the right and bottom of the frame for my liking. The subject of the photo is the car, not the graffiti wall. I would like to see more definition in the front of the car. Grille area,

#2. Boring angle IMO. I also think it is too far cropped in.

#3. Better than #1 in bottom space, but still too close to the right of the frame. Same thing about grille definition. I actually prefer this background vs. the graffiti.

#4. Sort of a boring angle. The front wheel is also lacking in definition which is distracting.

#5. Essentially the same as #2.

#6. Sky is very large and very distractingly blown out. I would maybe attempt to insert a better sky from a google search. The angle of the car is also pretty extreme.

I would start to experiment with HDR shooting. It is a fantastic technique for automotive photography.

More angles! There almost all identical shots with different backgrounds. I like them. But I would think with more angles we would get the whole picture of the cars personality.

The reason the Subie is turned that way is because it has damage on the pass side.
I see what you mean by the back ground. Just thought it would have been a good place, guess I was wrong on that.
The metal wall was my Fav place, so I guess I need to work on my angles. Thanks guys, I'll keep trying!

Here are a few more......Maybe some of these are better?

2. I know about the poll in the back ground. Could do nothing about it.

I have damage on my drivers side door and I can change up the angles. Ya just gotta work with what ya got.

You also didn't take any or the rear of any of the cars.

Take my opinions with a grain of salt, but I like both #1 from the first post and #1 from the second post. I actually like the graffiti wall a lot. I would like to find one like that around here! I see what these guys are saying with the angles though - I bet you will nail it on the next opportunity!
ME... I'm a big fan of the PP and I take a beating for it! I would have had these colors all crazy looking! :sexywink:

lol thank you.....as long as I'm getting better!

The cars are way to close to the backgrounds in most of both of these sets. The second set has light on both the front and near side of the car.

Be sure all the windows are rolled up.
