They're not horrible but it's true with everyone, practice makes perfect. I like the "Downtown Wall" the best.

I agree with Kirk. They are not horrible, but they lack substance. What was the objective of each shot? They appear to be random shots.

Yeah -- they were just photos of things that looked interesting to me.

If your aim is to simply take random snapshots of subjects that catch your eye, then you have succeeded in meeting your goal. If your goal was to tell a story, catch a significant moment in time, create a piece of artwork, convey emotion, or find explicit beauty in nature or your surroundings, then it would be my opinion that you have not succeeded. Create a goal and shoot for the goal, whatever it might be. Change your goal as soon as you have learned to shoot to meet that goal. Keep working to move forward in learning the art of photography.

What were you trying to achieve? Photography is an art just like painting, writing, and music. You should decide you want to convey and try to capture it in your photograph. It takes a lot of practice and patience.

Here is an example. I was at a local lake early one morning and the fog was rolling in very quickly. I saw a sail boat peaking through the fog and thought to myself, "Wow, that is eerie. I sat my camera settings and began shooting. This is what I ended up with.

I like Great escape.

The last three have some good potential, but several aspects.
1: The street sign has alot of chromatic distortion that is fairly distracting.
it can be a good shot if not for the color washing. (Just my opinion.)

2: The pumpkin-squash-whatever it is has some definition issues.
The green seems molted and not punchy.
it would be a nice shot otherwise and if converted to B&W may punch out nicely.

3: the church set up is good, but the powerlines are heavily distracting.
Sorta like having knives cutting through paper.

Photoshop out the power lines and the building will look really nice.
Again. my opinion.
