Finally got out for a walk on Thanks Giving Sunday.

Out of know where a Turkey Vulture circled us and I got a couple shots off.

These are hand held, when I see professional shots my guess is they are usually on a tripod? But I can't see how I would track these birds when using a tripod, good tripods allow this. Mine sucks at this point so a almost don't use it. A new one is on the list.

What do you think? Two shots and two crop choices.

Nobody? I thought this warranted at least a couple of comments?

This gallery isn't the place most people watch and comment on photos. It's more about sharing your work. If you really want comments put them up in the beginner section. Just a thought.

I like #1 the most for that great view of the wing feathers. I also like the crop decision with #1a. I think the vertical shape of the bird there suits it, and all the empty sky stretching out horizontally in #1b unbalances things a bit. I'm not completely sure whether I prefer #2a or b. I imagine doing this sort of thing on a tripod would take a lot of skill!

Thanks for the comments.

I'm partial to 1a as well, just a touch I'd editing with some values on the wing tips and I think that I will print this one.
