Two BMX photos, c&c please :)

The composition of the first photo bother me a bit, something about that angle isn't sitting right with me. The lighting is too flat, I prefer it more contrasty.

In the second photo, too much of the main subject is in the shadow. You could have pick another angle where the shadow isn't so harsh.

Just my 2 cents, your mileage vary.

I definitely agree about the bottom photo. I will have to go in and edit that one better.

They are alright, but there is nothing special or impressive about either one of them.

For the second shot you need to consider a more interesting angle...Get down low on the ground and shoot it, maybe from behind him. I have some experience shooting dirt jumping (bmx on mountain bikes basically) and I have found that you really have to get into awkward positions alot of the time to get good shots. Sometimes you have to put yourself or your gear at risk, but how much you do so is up to you.

I haven't had a chance to shoot it much since I've gotten better at photography though, hopefully I'll be taking a trip to a place called rays mtb in cleveland ohio soon. It's a 120,000 sq. foot indoor mountain bike park. I go mainly to ride, but I'm really looking forward to taking photos this time too

Thanks for your input. This was my first time shooting pictures of him on his bike. Will definitely do more of it in the future from different angles. Didn't really go into that day thinking I was going to get any great shots. More or less I was bored and decided to take a few photos while I waited. And I ended up liking a few of them.
