Great focus on the first ,the second would look better without the lads in the shot, i like the movement in the train

Thanks for the quick reply. I completely agree with your comment on the second shot. In fact, the main reason I posted that one is because I plan on going back with a tripod and reshooting without anyone in the frame. I just was wondering what else I might be able to do that I haven't noticed.

Hope you don't mind, but one of my favorite things to do is edit photos. Your thing says Okay to edit photos so I'm throwin down an edit. I sharpened it up and brought kitty in closer...

I'm on a really crappy monitor so its tough to tell if I oversharpened it, but I also blurred the background to give it more of a depth of field....

the composition on the first is off... centered subject, empty space.
the contrast and colour is also off

the second pic is blurry / out of focus

Move the orange cone

Open your shutter a lil more for more blur

I'd recommend picking up the book Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson. A great book, recommended by many here, for the beginner.
