Not often that i get the opportunity to shoot urban / street skiing and snowboarding.. Time to break my inactivity streak. Thanks for looking.
i like 4 and 5, but a little tip: try to show where they've come from and where theyre going, that way the viewer can see exactly whats going on in the picture
thanks, for the comments. I have included the kicker in 2 & 3 but yea, space in front of them would be nice. for the others i found it quite pointless including the area that wasnt affected by my one strobe have you got any tips for how i could get better coverage with just the one light?
That is some awesome work my friend! Urban Winter is so rare in the UK. Where are you based? Picture 5 needs to be sent to Salomon and see if they will pick it up, I think it's def got something special. The powder has cleared just enough to see the brand name shining through. Pic 5 is your winner for sure but I love them all. I wouldn't totally agree about showing where they are going/come from. I mean I do to a certain extent but equally there is merit in a tight focus purely on the trick's apex. The viewer might only be interested in the form of the boarder or skier. But so far my fave photos I have seen on TPF Is Pic 3 a Nidecker?
Hi Duncap... love #2 and #3... just a quick question... did you use direct flash?? Any attachements..?? Like the effects..
For all of these the flash was off camera but with a 1.5m TTL cable so never that far. all the powers were manually set along with the exposure and the flash head was zoomed 35 / 50mm as most of these shots were taken on my Sigma 10-20. For 2 & 3 the background was underexposed by 2/3rds or 4/3rds stops and the flash set at the correct exposure to make the boarders and skiers 'pop'
