I finally made it out to US Marine Corps Monument (Aka Iwo Jima monument) here in DC. I was looking for interesting angles and colors and such... After processing it in color I thought about what it would look like in B/W. And now the dilemma.

I like the color because it sets the mood with the color of the night sky and the texture in the clouds I get to feeling of it being shot on the same morning as it happened.

The B/W I think gives it more credibility and a sense of being back in the whole era where everything was shot in B/W.

So I really can't decided which I like best.

Color is WAY better. The spotlight reflections in the base are distracting.

So because it's b/w the highlights are more distracting? interesting..

I think I would like the B&W better if that little bit of ground was clipped out and the reflections were cloned out.

Unfortunately I have the same issue with this monument as I do with the Jefferson. Bright lights put in the worst places for us photographers. Sure I can crop it to cut out the lights, but then I would also be missing the base of the monument etc.. So it's a balancing game what I'm willing to accept and not accept.
