Bark scorpions don't get very big, but they are the most venemous in the US. I always used to find them in my office at work.

Try finding that on your shorts after you picked them up from the ground. I was in a cabin in the Texas Hill Country at the time. I screamed so loud.

Scorpions are awesome! While they may be a bit unnerving when they're found in the house, you should be thankful that you live in an area that has such fascinating wildlife right at your doorstep. It does look like an Arizona Bark Scorpion, Centruroides sculpturatus, though there are many species in the southwest that look very similar. Luckily, they are pretty easy to scoop into a cup (like you did) and toss outside. There are tons of scorpions up here too that I'm happy to share my home with, but all of our species are docile and have weak venom.

Some areas just come with weird creepy creatures. For example the nasty centipedes in Hawaii.

I rode from Phoenix to the west coast on motorcycles a couple of years ago. On the way back we stopped at a rest stop between Phoenix and the AZ/CA line. My host, who lives in Phoenix, said, "OK, I want you to go around the corner of the building and take a photo of the sign that you see there." I shot This. Now I understand what he was talking about and I'll never take my shoes off in Arizona again!

I think someone might be trying to kill you...

Yeah, I found a Centipede about 8 inches long as well. Those aren't as dangerous as the scorpions but they are equally as freaky. I work in a mining facility though, so its not your typical office building. Its on undeveloped land. I have a few family members who have them in their house. I hate when they invite me over cause I never want to sit on their furniture. The funny thing is, you could have no scorpions, and a house 1 block away could be infested.

They glow white when you hit them with a blacklight so its fun hunting for them at night.
