If this is your photo, post it. If it is one you took off the web, it is called plagiarism and it is not allowed on the forum.

Posting a link to a photo is not plagiarism.

Rather than posting negative comments - for the world to see - why not just send an email to the "poster" for correction.
E-mailing a correction request would probably get it corrected faster and may make your Forum look a little friendlier for readers.
Not everyone is as familiar as a moderator with each forum's rules and software - this may be intimidating for potential members.

Just a thought...

It's not the forum's rules so much as it is the law. Posting copyrighted images by other people without permission is illegal on any US based forum. (This forum is hosted out of Minneapolis).

Yes, there is the fuzzy realm of fair use, but hosts of a website are not going to want to sift through every image and decide whether or not they want to gamble on it being fair use or not.

I don't even know if this is your photo or not. If it is yours, then not an issue (and it's a cute photo, I like it, btw). If it isn't though, then it's reasonable to expect you to know better without even having read forum rules.

It is not necessarily illegal on any US based forum.

While fair use can be fuzzy, posting something for purposes of discussing said thing always falls under fair use. Particularly an excerpt of text w/ a link to the article, or a thumbnail of an image w/ a link to the original.

Whether or not a particular forum is willing to (has the backbone to) sift through the gray to make individual decisions is pretty much ONLY about the forum's rules and absolutely not due to any general inherent illegality of posting an image you didn't personally make.
