Instead of buying a new camera, I'd suggest learning to use the one you have.
Invest in books, maybe a beginners workshop. Learn to use the Av, Tv and M modes.
Also you learn a lot in YouTube for free. Spend one hour everyday watching tutorials and in not time you'll being too understand the the basics of photography ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed.
After that get better lens, like a few guys already suggest a nifty fifty "50mm f1.8" is a good star. With this lens you can get that blurry background your looking for.
