What's new

Upgrading Canon.

otherwise, realize that the 7D and the 5D-II are both inferior to other options on the market.

Please tell me what body you would recommend? Ive never shot a Nikon but as someone who is also looking to upgrade camera bodies to a 7D from a 500D, I would be interested in hearing your recommendations. I have not invested much into lenses.

The main reason i want to upgrade, is because my camera kinda sucks at higher iso. it starts getting noisy at 800iso.

The cars are stationary, they wont be moving. .

If cars Are stationary, as you know there is no need for high ISO.

I agree,Buy a Decent tripod, and a Decent lens. The 550D's Only been out 8months or so. And it does sound like you havent used it fully yet. I can maybe understand an Upgrade if you were moving into Professional Photography, but it sounds like your Shooting for fun.

If It was me,and like me,the money seems to be burning a hole in your pocket, The 5Dmk2 would be my Choice, and the kit lens i'd go with would be the 28-70mm f2.8, the other options the 28-105mm f4. Both L lenses. But the Af is abit Rubish. Alternativly, After speaking to a Canon Rep that visited my College a few weeks ago, hold out to mid 2011, The 5D mk3 is due to be released. He couldnt tell me much, but the sensor size is increasing, and the Af system is rumoured to be the same one as the 7D.

If you plan to put $2200 on a camera, you better be prepared to spend at least $2200 or more on lenses. But really.. how often do you shoot cars with models at night? It sounds like you need to spend money on lightings.

i am in the market for either a 7d or 5d mkII. this video was helpful to me.

try this too.

Go with the Canon 5D mk2. That way you can keep your lenses and do all you need.

Seems to me like you need a tripod. But if you must, then I'd say go with the 5DMK2. If you can, go with a D700, it'll give you the best of both world. ;)
