Hi all! I'm new to this forum and new to photography. I'm interested in fashion & portraits and have set up a little space at home to take shots.
I've just been offered a pair of Courtenay Solaflash 2000 lights with umbrella, snood and leads - 100w bulbs for £80. Is this a gd deal? They r old but working. Are these what I need for the styles I want to shoot? Help!

It's not a brand with which I'm familiar, and I can't seem to find any information on their power output. I assume that the 100w bulbs refer to the modeling lights (strobe output is measured in watt/seconds or w/s). Looking at pictures on line, they seem like very basic lights, but for ~$100 I would definitely grab them if they're working. Do they come with light stands too?

Hi! Thanks for replying. Yes, they include the tripods and umbrella and snood (whatever that is!)

I'm just not sure if they r the type I need for portrait photography or if I wld b better putting that money towards something else. Mare! Lol

Yes that is a good price, i have some older solarflash 400's, i think the 2000's will have the same 1/2 and full power settings so if you want to reduce the power just use more diffussion, these shot was taken with my solarflash's

Many thanks for letting me know - and for the table. I've bookmarked that now for when the bulbs blow! lol.
Cute pics of the doggies btw! Do you mainly do animal photography? It must be hard to get them to stay still for long enough??)
