Venus Optics Laowa 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5X Ultra-Macro Lens for Canon EF Mount

I have looked into Venus/Laowa before but I did not buy their product. They are hard to describe. I think they offer good value for the money, but they are generally still a bit below the lenses of Rokinon let alone Tamron or Sigma. For example, they had a very wide lens they called "Zero Distortion" because it was intended to be rectilinear. The lens really was very good for sharpness generally, but there was just a small amount of visible barrel distortion, which was disappointing considering their claim. Some of their products are unique though, and combined with the price and general quality, it makes them worth watching, and maybe buying.

Here is a review of the lens you are asking about on a Sony camera. I don't know this reviewer, but he seems experienced in the macro field:

I’ve had nothing but really fantastic results from my Laowa 15. I’d rate it’s quality, both build and optics, as good as anything I own. The only nit I have is the lens cap is prone to popping off from time to time.
