Hey everyone! I'm VERY new to photography. I just purchased a Nikon d7100. I'm learning the camera while trying to learn the basics of what makes a good photograph! I'm also very new to processing....not really sure what all the options mean/do, but know what I tend to be more attracted to! I've become slightly obsessed with photographing birds! I'm going to post a few pictures that I took and processed yesterday...I'd love to hear any thoughts....I need all the help I can get! It's hard not to post all of the pictures that I think I like!! Thanks!

Well, it looks like you're doing o.k. so far.

The first three are absolutely excellent for someone new to photography. Actually they are better than many of the shots I get now and I've been messing with cameras for over half a century! It is always good to read about technique, etc., and there is a plethora of information on the Internet and in books. But getting out with the camera and shooting is not only best, it's more fun!

I did mess with the third one a bit because it seemed a bit dark to me. So I lassoed the head to lift the shadows, did a bit of overall brightening and sharpened the eye a bit. Whether it's better is a good question...:sexywink:

Huge difference! I don't even know what lassoing does :blushing: so thanks for doing that and showing me the possibilities! Guess I need to learn about the lasso tool now!
