Very new, some C&C please

So I recently acquired a new camera and this is the very first time I've attempted to take any decent pictures besides snapshots of my kids with my point and shoot. I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing, but I am having fun so hopefully I can learn along the way. Just a few photos to start with. Did a little editing, cropping with photoshop.

1 & 2 seem out of focus to me, a wider crop on the bench may be a bit better but it really doesnt do much for me. others may disagree.

Start by reading your camera's user's manual several times through, and keep it near your camera. Be sure and take the manual with you when you go out to shoot too.

Pay close attention to the camera's metering, focus modes, and white balance. All of the photo's you have posted are underexposed and or have white balance issues.

Nope I agree with you on the focus of the first two and that the bench is to tight in the frame.
