Here are a couple shots from my Couples shoot with Kelly and Scott. Two Oregon State students. They were adorable.

Nice! A couple things -- have you posted here before? I'm almost positive I've seen those images here.

Second thing -- use the image tag above, and put the link to your photos in. It'll show the photo in the post. A lot of people won't do the work to go look at it off site, and it makes it harder to comment.

I had posted here months ago. 1 image. I'll try the image tag thing. Not sure why people would not click the link. It's fairly simple

I completely disagree with what you had to say about yourself not being able to "cut the mustard here" in your intro thread, because you're quite good.

As far as realizing your vision for the two photos here I think you did well. The styling and mood match the 50's era to me, although I think you could do some editing to give them a more similar look to the film processing styles of that time. The lighting is also nice; as far as that goes, I would only suggest placing the light at a higher angle in order to better sculpt your model's features, such as their cheekbones.

I think the first photo is nice, but would like to see a bit more balance between the key light and the back-light; the bright white of the backlight causes a harsh contrast in my opinion. A just slightly warmer white balance adjustment may also be flattering to your model. Lastly on this photo, I would have had the model lean in a bit closer to what she was resting her hand on, that way you could still get the tight composition without cutting her hand off, and lose the sunglasses in hand.

I love the styling in the second shot, they both look great and I like their expressions. If I were to be picky, I would suggest a jacket with a bit more of a biker look to it opposed to the more preppy look of this leather jacket. I feel like their posing is a bit stiff, and you could potentially pose them in ways where their bodies make more interesting shapes other than a mostly straight line from top to bottom. One last nit-pick is that I would suggest using the spot healing brush (or whichever editing tool you prefer for the job) to remove the tall grass that's lurking over the male model's shoulder and the weed that's growing to his side, bot of which are details that pull my attention away from your subjects.

Thank you so much. I regularly doubt myself but it just makes me want to master everything I can.

As for lighting on this shoot I used all natural lighting. The day was beautiful and I used a white covered bridge for a lot of my fill lighting. I was using the sun as my back lighting and I could of diffused the sun a bit.

The weed coming out of his shoulder was a something I debated getting rid of. I guess it does distract from the subject. I removed a garbage can from the image as well and decided I wanted to keep the weed. Lol

Thank you so much for the lovely critique. I can't wait to start looking at everyone's work.

I find the cropping of her arm at mid fore arm in the first image really weird. Many other crop options would have been preferable. The second shot is very successful and presenting it in black and white in keeping with the theme.

They don't like to have links only posted because it is considered "Click baiting" so it is nothing against you at all. It is just proffered that the photos be on the thread itself.
Speaking of your photos, they look great! :)

His hair is too dry, but otherwise it's a great set. ;)

Welcome to TPF. Thanks for posting these. I think you'll be fine here, and hope to see you around. OSU is not all that far from here.

I agree completely. I bungled the composition of this image with that error. I'll look back through my set and see if I can find something without amputation lol

Oh ok, that makes sense. Thank you for the wonderful compliment. :D

Thank you :D. I have a few shoots I've done at Oregon State. I'll post some soon.

yep, definitely lacks the Brylcreem! ;)

LOVE number 2. I agree about the brylcreem (the image still works) and definitely dump the weed.

Question for those old f*rts here who are even older than this old f*rt. The ripped jeans. Would a rocker have worn ripped jeans on a date back then? I don't remember ever seeing that "style" until MUCH more recently... ripped jeans went into the rag bag unless you were dirt poor and then mother would patch them. But then I was just a wee'un in the 50s ... also I'm from a different culture. :)
