Vintage Camera Restoration

Hi, I'm new here and dont really know where to put this kind of question but I believe this forum is suitable.

Ive gone through some stuff in the storeroom and found an old Olympus OM-10 35mm, with also a 72mm Lens i believe, all from Japan.
Its not dusty or anything, just the lens is a bit dirty. The main problem is I don't know whether it'll still be working or not, as there are still old batteries in the flash kit and the camera body itself (they have leaked obv). In this case, do I need to clean the parts (and how?) or do I need to buy new parts for the battery slot and cover?

And more, is it a good camera this OM-10? I'd like to use it cos its such a waste to leave it in the store. Thanks for helping :mrgreen:

EDIT: It works fine now after i cleaned the some stuff, but the lens have fungus, thats the only problem. Admin can close this thread

I assume you are into film photography, the camera simply has no value.
If you enjoy non digital photography then this camera might be a good choice, from a quick glance at ebay yuo can get the same camera with lenses for around 20$ so if you need some lenses just get some of ebay.

On the other hand you can always go for digital DSLR

Determining whether the lens is worth saving depends on the extent of the fungus and what the lens is. Can you post a picture of the lens? If it says something like theta 72mm, that would be the filter size and not the lens focal length.

Overall, the OM series is a pretty good choice. I've got an OM-1n that I've put quite a bit of film through. Great camera. Good luck, and enjoy it. Snag a 50mm f/1.8 off eBay too.
