I bought a used Vivitar 285v flash (less than 10v trigger voltage) that came with a AC adapter (SB-4) and 2 addition battery cables.

I was told I can use a external battery with that cable. Anyone has any idea or experience with this? Here are some pictures of the Flash and the cables.

1. The entire set minus the SB-4

One end of the cable goes into the battery compartment.

External battery packs are great. They allow you to shoot for long periods without swapping batteries but better than that, your recycle time usually stays nice a fast.

I did some searching on "battery pack" and find some additional information.

Thanks Bigmike ... as always.
