Vivitar 70-210mm series 1 macro lens, mount question

I recently purchased this macro lens and it was advertised as having the m42 mount. Well it has the k-mount. My question is is the k-mount an add-on and can it be taken off? Many thanks! Tacky

Only if it is a Tamron adaptall lens ... so no.

As I recall the Series 1 lenses were dedicated mounts.

The T-4 series used an interchangeable mount.
It was a neat way to convert a Pentax screw mount to a breach mount.
