Hey, does anyone have any opinions on the Wacom Intuos4 4x6. I'm about to purchase one. Is it a good tablet? etc. Just want to make sure that its the right purchase. I'll be using it for graphic art and photo retouching.

I have an Intuos4 (larger than the 4x6) and absolutely love it. It's the only tablet I've used so I can't compare/contrast it to others, but it has made photo editing so much easier.

One thing to consider when deciding which size to get is that the active surface of the tablet basically maps 1:1 with your screen. So if you're trying to draw a line (or, say, trace a contour) on your screen, you'll need a proportional amount of movement of your hand on the tablet. For a long line, a smaller tablet surface means you don't have to move your hand/wrist as much, but conversely trying to draw a short line means you need to accurately move your hand a tiny amount. For a large tablet the opposite holds true - you get better resolution trying to draw a "short" line but have to move your arm a fair bit to draw a "long" line. I'm not trying to push you one way or the other, just consider how you're likely to use it and what your comfort zone is.

Wacom tablets are great, no question there. The only thing is that it's usually a lot harder to work with a smaller one than a larger one. I have a small one and I've gotten used to it, but a larger one would be so much better.

I have used the 4x6 and found it a bit on the small side - it works very well, as do all of the Intuous products, but if the budget will allow it, I would suggest going for the next larger size.

I also found the 4x6 to small and use a medium.

In fact I'm selling some gear so I can move up to a Cintique so my Intuos 4 Medium is for sale.

I have the original box, packaging, documentation, pen, extra pen tips etc. $259 including shipping.

Like all my gear, it's been extremely well cared for and is in like new condition.

The Intous 4 are great but I'm on the same page as everyone else the 4x6 is just to small for me. I even thought the 12" cintiq was too small. I saved my pennies for a few weeks and got the 2nd gen 21". I highly suggest a larger tablet than the 4x6 and if you have the budget anything on the cintiq line.

I use the Medium (8.8 x 5.5) which works perfectly for me. The Large was just too big and tiresome to use (large hand transit), but would probably be great for a graphic artist rather than a photographer. I had a little Graphire for a while which was just too tiny.
