I think that the contrast of black and color works nicely - the nice, solid black is pleasing. It would be a weaker image if you could see foliage in the shadows.

Me too. I was scrolling to the bottom surprised noone else thought this then seen your response. It does look like a little baby leaf in the middle with a face.
