Photos OK to edit
Can anybody suggest a good book on learning to use LR? I know there are videos on Youtube but I like books that I can easily flip through. There seem to be a lot out there. I'm wondering which are good.

Thanks.

Ditto on the kelby books.. they are excellent!

Thanks. I'll pick up a copy. I wonder if these are available locally so I don't have to wait for the mail?

While you wait on the mail: Open Lightroom. Click on the 'Develope' module. At the top of the page click on Help > Lightroom Help, and Adobe has lots of stuff for you.

Thanks KmH. I'm really a NOOB at LR. I bought a copy and have played with it a bit, but I have no idea what people mean when I hear layers, masks, dodge and burn, etc. It's all Greek to me. I need to get learned.

Lightroom is not a complete image editing solution. Lightroom can't do layers, has no selections tools, and has only rudimentary masking, dodging, and burning capabilities.
Lightroom also lacks many of the other image editing functions and features Photoshop CS5 has.

Adobe designed Lightroom to be a compliment to, not a replacement for, Photoshop.

The only other editing software I own is Elements. I do not own a complete copy of PS.

Thanks for the link Dakkon.

youtube search's will render some decent tutorials too

I used Lightroom Adventure for my Digital Imagining class, which helped immensely with my categorization and organization issues, but before that I learned how to use Lightroom by playing with it all the time. And youtube tutorials.

google: "photoshop lightroom tutorial for _____________"

just fill in the blank and hit enter and google will do the rest. Always remember that you dont buy a book to use a computer, just use the computer.
