Well I'm relatively new to photography, learned about it in high school but haven't kept up with it since I ended college.

Anyways, want to shoot my first chiaroscuro scene, but my understanding is that the higher ISO film you use the more grainer it turns out.

So just curious to know what ISO is recommended?

I bought some 100 ISO film so I might give that a try at first

Yes, the higher the ISO, the more defined and visible the grain. As for 'recommended' ISO, it depends. If you want the highest-quality image, than I would use 50 or 100 ISO. If you want to faithfully reproduce an "old-school" image, than go for 400. Are you shooting 35mm, MF, or LF?

shooting 35mm :D
