I have to agree with those that say keep the D5100 and get new glass. I think the Nikkor 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6 is a great all-around lens and would purchase that first, then look at the 35mm f/1.8 DX lens for a normal lens on a cropped sensor. Like others, I always set the function button to change ISO quickly.
