A crowded spot here in DC

Looks like it came in right over your head. Pretty cool shot I think. The space on top works for this.. I might even cut some off the bottom to give it more of a sense of space on top. Might crop right above where you put your signature, cutting out the light part of the foreground.

....and the angle w.r.t the runway

Good one..

Go easy on the vignette. Nice shot mo

I like it.

However, is it just me, or is that pilot coming down a little, erhm, not straight? :) (darn my English vocabulary!)

Was it foggy out there?

Rez, yea right under. I probably could throw rocks at them, they were that close.
Shin, What's w.r.t the runway?
Schwetty, ok
Compaq, you're right. Actually, none of them were. It wasn't foggy but the wind was extremely strong. Much stronger than it usually is. So none of them were 100% straight.

Here are some pix for you and Rez :)

Rez, for you

We used to fly kites in the park near the end of that runway.

Very nice mo, I need to get to my little airport and try some shots like this!! Thanks for sharing.

Love it, and I love how you can see the wheels and how it's landing a little uneven. The other one where the wheels are tipped even more looks a bit scary!

Woahh?? R u serious? Its by Regan Airport and that's the only park there. But I'd think flying kites would be highly dangerous/illegal. Hmm I haven't seen it done though, although the thought has crossed my mind, what would happen if I tried.

Thanks, I am glad to have inspired you. Its pretty fun but after 5 planes you get bored. I wish I had the 2x TC then I could have really zoomed in to the wheels when they landed.

I know right?? But I think that's pretty normal. The only scary plane ride I had was when I went back to Bangladesh when I was 13, plane landed in India for a few hours and it was stormy so the plane landed, took off and landed again. But then after a few hours we were back up in the air, not sure why but holy crap, as we were climbing the plane must have dropped couple hundred feet TWICE as we were climbing.

Looks like the perfect spot to have tried long exposure for trailing lights. Did u do any like that?

Good thought! No I haven't tried that since it was day time and it didn't really come to mind. I don't have ND filters either. I can always go one of these days and try it since it gets dark early. Thanks for that Doz!

haha, that was awesome :P

And I liked the cropped version better :) I wish I had runways like that close to me - and more appropriate lenses

What they're doing is landing with one wing low into the prevailing wind to compensate for the crosswind. This allows them to descend and touchdown straight instead of at an off-angle to the runway.

I think this one looks a little scarier.
