Watching Plane Landings

cool shot (s)!! what are the legalities of shooting airplanes (with a camera, to be clear lol)? I know people do it, but it just seems like it would be illegal. I know my dad and one of his friends had some issues with taking pics of trains...

Love it, and I love how you can see the wheels and how it's landing a little uneven. The other one where the wheels are tipped even more looks a bit scary!

I think this one looks a little scarier.

Holyyy jeez Thats insane
Nice shots though : )
I like the first one you posted ( After cropped) The best,
Really nice! :)

Well considering that some airports have designated plane spotting / photography locations, I doubt it's illegal :)

touche'!! i guess i have yet to be to an airport that had one (or i have at least failed to notice them)!:greenpbl:

That first one is SWEET!

Thanks guys. Yeah shouldn't be illegal. But states/counties/cities may have their own laws. With trais its enclosed space so I think sometimes securities care. But if you were shooting pictures of a couple at the train station, that should be ok.

Second last, the smoke may be from the wheels as it looks like he may have touched down on the button.

Oh Ron, that was the only picture where the plane was getting ready to take off. It's the extra thrust building before the plane started moving. Smoke came from turbine.

OK, that explains the smoke on landing.

I have worked airside at Goose Bay & Toronto International & never took a pic. Never crossed my mind @ the time. I'm thinking of a time I was right beside the runway as two Mirage jet fighters took off side by side - talk about loud when they went by.

I hear ya on that I worked on Logan Airport in Boston for a while and was dying for a camera one day when there was a 747 taxiing out with a thunder storm behind it in the distance, those would have been some amazing shots

It depends on what you are shooting if you just taking pictures of planes landing and taking off its one thing, but working on Logan ive seen a guy get pulled off of a plane forced to delete pictures he took of the ramp and then fined $500 so just use discretion lol

LOVE the shot in the first post. Great job my friend
Cheers!

The shot is really very amazing.....
I think you should try a shot from the front if you can mange it.....it would be a great one.

Thank you guys. I wish I could Ranger, but there's no space from the other side, When the plane does land from the other side (depending on the day and wind direction) it's too far away for my lens. I might be able to when I get the 2x TC

wow. those are some cool shots.. i like the emission one haha.. also the one above it, how crooked that it appears he touched.
