Wedding Photos

Thank you everyone. I will research and find someone who is experienced in this and see if they are willing to teach me how to photograph weddings.

For the club scene, it all depends on what the bar is willing to pay. As some bars will just give a bar tab for you to shoot with on regular nights and on events you can get cash and a bar tab, that is the current payout I get at one of the bars I shoot at currently. But I am adding more bars to try and being in more clientele and also look for other avenues to. If you would like to see the work we have, we have our facebook, search Dark Pearl Photography and we have all of our photos there.

Event photography, is event photography. Capturing a moment is capturing a moment. One dress is long and white the other is short and black.
True, but unlike a more "random" event, a wedding is [usually] a fairly structured, scripted event, with a number of 'must get' shots. The photographer has to have a copy of the script and know it inside-out. The biggest difficulty in shooting weddings is the whole 'no do-over' aspect.

I have my work cut out for me here, good thing I asked a couple friends I know and they already referred me to people that have done weddings so I contacted them and asked if I could get some help.

I have now shot eight differant weddings for free to learn how to do them. The friends had NO money and appreciated my amateur efforts, otherwise they would have had NOTHING. I got bride magazines and tore out the shots I liked. I got up and moved my feet during the ceremony so I could capture the faces and rings etc. They got a CD and could touch them up or print them themselves at Walmart. I was very honest about my lack of ability, we made a list of must have shots, and hey, it was free.

Ian, dude! Every image you take is at an angle!
Don't do that for the wedding!

I myself am in the same category as you, so if this offends you don't take it that way. Fact is if you find yourself in the beginner section of a forum asking how to take pitcures of a wedding, you shouldn't be taking pictures at the wedding. At least not as THE photographer.

Luckily for for I received a reply from a wedding photographer that said she would be happy to help me and teach me the ropes. I told her I would like to sit down with her and tag along and learn the process.

Way to go. And by the way, dont do diagonal or angled shots like what Bitter Jeweler said. The mother of the bride wont like it...
