Weekend at the Fair (Pics)

Hey guys!

Took the camera out this weekend, and the family and I went to the local fair. Took some shots, and the ones here are the ones that are "keepers" if you will. I am always open to feedback.

Another thing I'd like some feedback on or at least direction. We all want that bokeh and to isolate our subjects

While its possible, since I am still using the kit lens 18-55MM that came with my D3400 its just not as pronounced as it would be with a faster lens. Still learning composition, do you think it makes sense to grab a "Nifty Fifty" to get the look I want while still practicing composition, or nail one and then upgrade the glass?

*Side Note* and maybe for a different thread. (I think I'll start another thread) Using LightRoom CC Classic for photo edits, my monitors look like GARBAGE compared to when editing on my phone. I do know that my phone (Pixel 2 XL) really cranks the saturation so that could be something. I have a couple older Dell Professional Series monitors, but nothing fancy. Any tips there?

I’d look at the Nikon 35 1.8. That would give you the equivalent of a 50 mm on your camera which has a cropped sensor. A 50 on the D3400 would be a nice portrait lens, about the equivalent of an 85 mm on a full frame camera. I have the 35 1.8 for my cropped sensor D5100 and D7200 and it is a great lens at a bargain price.
