For this week’s challenge, post photos using a movement technique. Some examples: panning, subject motion blur, intentional camera movement, freeze motion on a fast moving subject... the possibilities are endless. Try something new, get creative with a familiar subject, experiment!

With most of these techniques, practice and trial and error are key. Don’t get discouraged if your first attempt doesn’t come out the way you imagined. Have patience. Try again.

As always, new photos only for the weekly challenge please. Get out there and shoot!

So Friday the R6 arrived.

Today I am at the lake and I think splashing water definitely says "motion!"

Background: shot with the 100-400 f 4.5-5.6 mark II with a 2x TC making this 800mm @ f 11. I got the R6 because the AF works down to F 16. Sure enough, from a moderately bobbing boat, hand held, the AF tracked these other boats.

BTW, cooled these images a bit for bluer water. Too much?

Congrats on the new gear. Nice start to the challenge. I think only the middle shot is too blue. The boat in the last photo is white but in photo #2 it’s not.

Good eye. Definitely needs to be toned down. I saved a preset for one of them and then applied it to the others but that one is too cool. I don't like photos that "lie" but a little tweak can be pleasing.

So there is room for improvement I know but I think panning shots may be easier on the new camera. The tracking AF and perhaps the IBIS appear to track the object of the pan fairly well: biker isn't moving that fast so the speed is only 1/50th. The background blur is not bokeh. It was taken on an 18mm at F 18. This is the only shot I panned. Looking forward to getting better at this.
