That wasn't so bad was it? I didn't see anything in your post that would even be close to making any reasonable person upset, and it didn't upset me either for that matter.
See Eric's earlier post for the exif data...I thought it was at f22, but it was at f10 already as you suggest it should be...
I was holding the longer shutterspeed with my hands, no tripod so that most likely is the reason for the haze look...with the amount of light available I could have gone with a much longer shutter speed and a smaller aperture...it would have been nice to have a couple flashes to help separate the tree from the background perhaps...
Do you have a suggestion for a different composition...like I mentioned earlier...the tree is only a half block or so from the office I work at...
I can't wait until winter so I can get that same tree surrounded by snow...
