Well The Girl had her friend over (who also was my fairy in the woods model a couple months ago). I don't know what to say about these other than it was all impromptu and the girls were goofing off, and it was in my back room with bare walls, a single speedlight camera left shot thru a westcott umbrella, and a small window camera right. I'm not a super-great off camera light extraordinaire, I so much prefer ambient, but I do want to be able to use it. The last one is no flash and it's of course my favorite one

Anyways, enough disclaimers. Here are the girls.

5. There's several things about this that should make me can it - hair over her eye, grumpy face, wrinkled shirt, wonky straps, but for some reason I really like this one. Feel free to disagree.

This photo has the brightest lighting; the others appear a bit under-exposed, and dimmer, and less "airy". It might be instructive to analyze the SIZE of the window that lit this photo, and actually measure the size of the window, and note the approximate distance from the girl to the center-line point of the window. In the future, you could make a home-made diffusing scrim the same size as that window, and then behind that diffusing scrim, place a flash unit or two, which would for all intents and purposes, create "artificial window lighting" using electronic flash and your diffusing panel.

Agree with Derrel, I'm also seeing a slight yellow/green cast.

I love all of them, well except the expression of #5...my favourite is #3. Are they siblings? They look alike...

Derrel - great idea!! Thanks! I'd say 90% of everything I've ever done has been natural/ambient light, whether it's here or on location. I want to have another option for days when it's -22 outside or something, and just recently I'm messing around with OCF and cannot recreate the "airy" soft finish effect of natural or window light. I'm all for DIY projects to save money. I will go back and see if I can bring up the exposure on some of the others.

Tirediron - They all had a greenish cast at first, I pushed the tint in LR to the pink, maybe not enough. They look okay on my monitor - grab one if you like and mess with the color cast and re-post it here, maybe you're seeing something I'm not. I need to change my ok to edit flag.

Rosy - Thanks! The boy and younger girl are siblings, they are mine and they do look alike. The older girl is not related but is a close friend.

I agree with IzzieK... I love all of them but #5. She is super precious but that expression to me says, "Okay mom, I'm done with this". Great job with these!
