So it's a wonderful day today. Sunny, no wind, mild temps. Time to check my roof for damage caused by the ravages of winter.

I walk around to my side door, which I never use, and get up on a ladder to peek at my shingles. Everything looks good. When folding the ladder up, I see something odd under the bottom shelf of my grill.

Hmmmm. Looks like a box of some sort. Probably the neighbor's trash again. I'm always cleaning up after them. So I drag it a rather well-worn, waterlogged and weathered box.

Weird. It's taped shut. Never been opened. It's been there for so long I can't make out who it's addressed to, but the labels on it make it appear to be from Deutschland. Now who the heck do I know in Germany?, I ask myself.

Intrigued, I bring the box inside to my kitchen table. As I take a knife to it, the light bulb literally turns on.

Secret Santa...............

2017....................

Crap. This thing has been sitting outside for the better part of FOUR MONTHS. Rain. Snow. Hail. Sleet. I'm going to find a totally ruined piece of (what used to be) nice artwork inside.

However, upon opening the box, I found a framed photo wrapped in bubble wrap. Although the bottom of the wrap was damp, it appears, no my amazement, that the contents were not affected by it's 4-month camping trip.

Inside: A pristine photo, wonderfully framed and matted!

Unfortunately, I have lost track of who would have sent it to me. So to whoever this mystery member is:

THANK YOU!

Somewhere at the end of last year, I have read, according to me, that TPF member Fred von den Berg would be your Secret Santa 2017. I can be wrong, thought. Have not seen him on the forum for a while.

This appears to be from a Peter.

Not only a Secret Santa gift but a great story of survival as well.
