What could I do to make this picture better??

I see a picture thats extremely dark and has extremely shallow depth of field, so really everything is out of focus.

With a lot of guesswork the things in the front could be roses, yes. But there is no way to be sure. Only some of them are in focus, and even then I cant make out anything, because they are mostly just blobs of black.

The person in the background dominates the picture, but is completely out of focus. But thanks to the general lack of light, even if it would be in focus, I still couldnt see much anyway.

I think you're kind of missing the point of the photo. The lack of color and light shows her life going out. She's out of focus because the rose signifies her even though she is still what the picture is about.
