I have no idea. I got this spot on my sensor back in September when i mistook dust in the viewfinder for the sensor, i blew and blew like the big bad wolf and i finally found the last house made of bricks. I used one of those sensor brushes, but it doesn't go away. I also used one of those sensor magnification things to look more closely, but i saw no visible particles.

I applied a sensor swab to my sensor and now the smudge is gone.
