This is one of my first shots on my D40x. What do you think? This clam shell was sitting on this wall, I just had to take a shot of it

Nice shot. Good exposure and composition.

A few tips: You might want to straighten up the horizon a bit. Crooked horizons are generally a bad thing. Also, check your white-balance. From the info on Flickr it looks like you're shooting in JPG. You should really be shooting in RAW if you're not doing high FPS stuff.
