They look good. Focus is where it is expected to be (eyes), the light is right, the backgrounds blurred, the ears forward in a friendly manner, not clipped off by any part of the frame... Good.

Both are good shots.

I think theres a bit more dead space to the left on the second one though, I would have framed it a slight bit more to the right.

A thought... Slight re-crop, convert to B&W, and bump the contrast?

Thanks, I like it a lot better that way. I'm in the process of selling the bay horse so I have been annoying him a lot with photos lately!
