What does "glamour photography" mean?

This is getting off of my original topic, but since you brought it up, can you elaborate on how "implied nude" is ambiguous? I'm only aware of one meaning for that term. Thanks.

JoeW, pretty much nailed the ones that get debated over.

If you break it down. Implied means essentially "not outright stated but hinted at." So an implied nude "should" mean hinted at being nude. So for instance a model with a sun hat in front of her chest. Is she wearing a bikini top or not? The usage though varies. Take what Joe described as a demure nude (image of a model totally nude, pretty much obviously so, and her hands or pose is covering her breasts. It's obvious she is wearing nothing unless potentially some small pasties). some will call this a nude and some call it implied.

Which is right? Like I said before it does not matter. Debate it as much as you want for sun on the net... but unless you want to debate the definition with each client it's so much easier to assume your definitions are quite likely going to be different on at least one point and thus to send sample images that clearly depict what you are attempting.

Thank you. I had not heard the term demure nude before, and would have categorized what you define it as implied nude. I'll use that term in the future if talking about that kind of shoot, followed by clarification.

Although, the main model (so far) whom I'd been considering eventually doing that with, already has such images in her portfolio, so I know that she does it (or at least did at one time); and my plan had already been to point at the images in question and say "like that."

'Glamour' is like 'pornography', 'conservative', 'overweight', etc...in the mind / eye of the viewer. One person's 'fat' is another person's 'curvy'. One person's 'torture' is another person's 'B&D Sexy'. Sears catalog bra & girdle ads are 'glamour' to some, and 'soft core porn' to others. It is best to speak plainly to models, before a meet, and let them know what you want. If they don't like it, they don't have to show up. Do you want a blouse with two buttons open....or do you want total nudity with erect nipples...or something in between? If you are too shy to tell it like it is, you may be in the wrong racket.
