When printing, what do you convert RAW files to after you edit them with the intention to print?

if im printing it myself i use an uncompressed tiff
if im going to my local camera store, i don't convert it at all

I use the file format the print lab wants.

I didn't specify, but I am printing on my own, however now that you mentioned it, what format is usually preferred by a lab?

If I'm printing them myself I use Photoshop format, Adobe RGB and 288, 360 or 720 ppi which match the printer resolution (1440 or 2880 dpi).

If someone else is printing them I usually use quality 12 JPEGs and whichever colour space the printers prefer (pref Adobe RGB or sRGB as a second choice), and whichever exact ppi their machines use (200, 302, 402 and 610 ppi are common for LED and laser photographic printers).

Files for web offset is a different matter, but I don't think you are asking about those.

Best,
Helen

t depends where you go

for example i've done a couple business cards for people and different online print shops allow different formats

but 300ppi sRGB jpeg is usually a safe bet for anything

however some places wanted me to use cmyk

I am printing for myself, TIff , adobe RGB color space.

I shoot in RAW all the time & save images for web/email as JPEG & anything else for possible print, I save as TIFF files... I thought JPEG lost quality?

I send Adobe RGB Photoshop (.psd) files to an Epson R2400.

I keep the raw files and edit .psd files in layers. At home I just print from the .psd file. If a lab is printing them I just save the .psd file in the format they want (most of the time it is a high res jpeg). I usually don't keep the jpegs after I send them to the printer because I can always save another from the .psd file.
