What happened to my film?

Hey there. I was recently passed down many of my grandfather’s cameras (Canon FTB QL) and sadly two rolls I took with it — my first) came back very underexposed and also black on the right side throughout most of the roll.

Can you help me figure out what I did wrong here? Is there a shutter issue possibly? It’s 400 film shot at 400.

Bummer. Hope to fix it for next roll.

Looks like a problem with the shutter.
With no film in the camera ... open the back ... set the shutter speed to 1s ... fire
Observe the movement of the first and second curtains ... then do the same as you step up in speeds.

Yup. Your Canon is 50+ years old. Typical of most un/under-used cameras of that vintage, petroleum-based lubricants can cause problems like this.
