What is a GOOD replacement for Lightroom??

Geeeeeeeeez.............The same message....."IMG 0030 JPG lrcat" and now I also have a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error......

Oh that's ok NikonME...............I appreciate any input at all..........one never knows....I dunno - this one's a stumper.......Maybe later I'll try an older version - Lightroom 2 although I believe there are new features in the 3 that I was looking forward to but the 2 would be better than nothing....lol

Do you have an image on your computer named IMG_0030.jpg? Try renaming that and try again.

If that doesn't work, uninstall the program. Delete the Adobe Lightroom folders left in the Program Files/Adobe and Program Files (x86)/Adobe folders. Also rename (dont delete, you may want to keep it as a backup) the "lightroom" folder in your "My Pictures" folder. Reboot and then install the proper version 32bit or 64bit. You can check your system type by right clicking on My Computer and then click Properties.

I agree that the name of the catalog looks weird. That looks like the name of a single image, not a catalog.

Is it possible that you accidentally exported an image 'as a catalog' and now that is the catalog that LR is trying to open? But maybe that catalog or file got moved or deleted?
If you haven't already, try the 'press Ctrl' method and rather than opening an existing catalog, try to start a new one.

I don't think the 32bit or 64bit is the issue as long as you have the proper version for your computer. It has to do with the catalog somehow. If you follow the directions above for uninstalling and removing remnant folders, you should be able to get a fresh clean install.

I agree with Big Mike, like I stated prior, try opening an existing catalog or make a new one. If that doesn't work, try my next suggestion for uninstalling and removing remnant folders before rebooting and reinstalling. I have to head to work. I will check in from my phone to see how it went. Good luck. :)

Hmmmm..........NikonME you raise a good point! I'm going to delete ALL data again; I think my last mistake was i forgot to erase the Lightroom folders in the pictures folder.......I deleted everything from the registry also but forgot that folder......geez. That COULD be the problem - I hope..LOL

I'll letcha ya know how it goes ;)

Looks like it is a Bug in Lightroom that had been reported to Adobe.

See here.

Well all...Guess What!! It WORKED!! What I did was delete anything that had anything to do w.ith Lightroom that was in my pictures folder (along with everywhere else) and after I reinstalled it, oh and it IS the 64 bit, it asked if I wanted it to make a default folder and so from there it's all set; geared to go. Oh and by the way, I did do a search for that IMG_0300 or whatever the name of that file was, and it couldn't find it....so I couldn't rename it. So, again, I THANK YOU ALL very very much for ALL your help! You are ALL so very helpful and I NEVER would've been able to do it without you ;). You guys are AWESOME!! I think I'll even post a few pics soon and get some constructive criticism. I'm fairly new into photography and LOVIN every minute of it!!

Again Thank You,

Karen
