I guess for me it's too busy. You have the ripples in the water competing w/ the glare and the duck. I really like the lines that you have moving my eye throught the picture but it just isn't relaxing to look at.
I dont remember sharpening it much at all, but it's always possible...
I tried a re edit to lessen that glare on the water, but it was too far gone. I couldnt get any detail there. Unfortunate.
Oh well. I guess it's doomed to hang out in the depths of the folders on my computer until the next time I clean them out and cant remember why I bothered to keep it.
I like it the photo, but there isn't a clear subject. I am immediately drawn to the ice and the sun's reflection of the water. But then I feel like you want me to focus on the duck.
The glare drowns out the duck completely...but my problem with the picture is that the duck has got to be freezing lol he's chillin in water that actually has ice in it. I don't get how animals don't die in situations like that.

Actually ducks are like little bird polar bears! Their feathers are sleek and tight and make a "coating" over their down underneath. They have an oil gland that they spread oil onto their top feathers with, to make them waterproof. So the space between their skin and the water is a dry air space filled with fluff.
As for their feet, the blood vessels are aligned going out from their body into their feet/legs and going back out again, so the warm blood from their body also warms the colder blood leaving the foot, which prevents them from getting too cold.
And when they do get cold, they just tuck their feet and bill into their down.
And thats todays zoology lesson. I love ducks, so I know way too much about them. I've kept them since I was about 12. If only I could take nice picture of them now...
