what memory card to get for nikkon d3300

hi guys,
i just ordered my d3300 nikkon camera and i understand it does not include a memory card. I am wondering if anyone knows what one i should get and if there are any major difference between some. I would like to get it on amazon if the price is cheap, im thinking a 16-32 gb to start as it is economical. thanks

get 40mb/s or above, and after that it really doesn't matter for a D3300. The brands are more or less generic.

Yes, sure, 16 to 32 GB is plenty for most people. SanDisk and Lexar are both good brands, but there are other decent brands. I thought that most of the lower and mid (D7100) level Nikons were limited by the parts used to 45 Mb/second maximum write capability on still photos. If there is an area to research, it might be in how the camera responds to faster cards when taking longer VIDEO clips; again, not sure on this, but over the years I've read some posts indicating that for videography, the higher-spec'd cards can help keep up with the data that has to be recorded for longer shots.

You want UHS-1 SD cards

This would work just fine, the extreme pro is faster but it does cost more.

I have Sony class 10 40mb 32GB for my Sony A77 and T3i. Never had any problems.

Page 362 shows approximately how many photos can be stored on a 16 GB card.

Like what Derrel said: images taken by the camera must be stored on a memory card the specs of that card will determine how fast images/info will transfer from the camera to the card.

Before you buy look at:
Card write speed, how fast information will be transferred from the camera, bearing in mind the camera abilities, to the card given in Mbps, google it
Card Read speed, how fast information can be transferred from your card to a computer, again in Mbps.

Card size 4 8 16 32 Gb refers to how much stuff can be stored to it.

Allot of card packaging will have a big 40 or 45 or even 60 Mbps in large font on the front this very often will refer to card read speed and not write speed have a look at the back to find the actual specs.

If you plan on shoot video with your d3300 a class ten card or UHS card is what you want but that may not be crucial.

Course you're budget will determine most of this.

Actually, the memory buffer in your camera has more to do with how fast image files can be written to a memory card.
There is some info regarding the memory buffer in your D3300 on page 69 of the Reference Manual.
As mentioned, memory card speeds are READ speeds, not write speeds.

Basically a Class 6 SD memory card will be sufficient for still photos, and a Class 10 SD card will be sufficient for video.
