What point and shoot?

I'm looking for a great point n shoot to replace my D7000 for when I go bike riding, fishing, and anywhere else a dslr wouldn't be convenient at some times. I sometime I have to ride 18 plus miles on bike just to get to a fishing spot and carrying a camera bag isn't really helping. Can you imagine whipping that thing out every time someone or myself catch a fish just to take a trophy photo.

I don't care about the camera having video at all since I have a camcorder for that or anything else not needed. I don't know if many point n shoot cameras shoot in a raw format or not, but that would be nice. I'm looking into cameras myself but a little extra help would be nice.

I hate to say it, but in my opinion there is no such thing as a great point and shoot camera. My S90 is quite good and produces decent images, but my overall view of compacts is still pretty poor. They can produce amazing images in the right hands, no doubt about it. But they still produce fuzzy, diffraction limited, soft noise filled images most of the time compared to a DSLR.

But for those times when you haven't got your DSLR with you, nothing beats em! As they say, the best camera is the one you have with you.

Well, there was a lot of stuff I loved about my G11. Just some notes:

1. The G11 has no shutter lag if you put her into the continous mode. Something like 150ms between shutter press and picture taken. As close to "instant" as one could ever ask for. Disadvantage: its on the mode dial, so you cant also choose stuff like Shutter Priority anymore.

2. The real pain of the G11 is the 9 seconds between two pictures. You can shoot series (I think 3 pictures in sequence) and movies (no full HD and only 1h max), though.

I second the Canon s100. Just bought one for my wife after doing much research and it is awesome. She likes the simplicity. I like the fact you do have quite a bit of control if you need it and it shoots RAW.
