I'm new to photographing and i would like all the help i can get to improve. to be real honest i don't know my camera fully yet but i'm playing around and reading about the settings.

All feedback is appreciated. Do you need more detail about the photo and i will try to answer as good as i can.

Canon 400d,
EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
ISO: 100
Exposure time: 1.3 sec
f/11

Time: 19:03
Cloudy, sun covered mostly by trees
Tripod was used.
Location: Stockholm(Visättra), Sweden
 
Think about light quality.
In many shooting situations only ambient light doesn't cut it.
Use of supplemental light is often what makes the difference between a mediocre photograph and a good or great photograph.

In your shot, what little bit of the sky we can see in the background is over exposed and has no detail nor color.
Maybe it's overcast sky, maybe it's just over exposed because you didn't use supplemental light to balance the dark foreground with the bright bit of sky in the background.
